Why Choose Holistic Herb?
Looking for natural health solutions can leave you faced with too many options and a lack of clarity. That’s why the Holistic Herb mission is clear: to provide CBD products that are uniquely 100% free of THC, the psychoactive element of hemp, with superior absorption for greater efficacy. This makes Holistic Herb CBD products the No.1 complementary choice for your health and wellbeing.
Holistic Herb is a new UK premium CBD brand with a difference, offering unique technology that raises the game for CBD products. CBD stands for cannabidiol, a cannabis compound believed to have beneficial effects, which is taking the health world by storm. The UK market alone for CBD doubled in size in 2017 and Holistic Herb is the frontrunner when it comes to the safety and efficacy of our products.
Holistic Herb came into existence as a direct result of CEO Gary’s hunt for the ultimate CBD products following an accident that almost ended his life. A former semi-professional jet ski racer and hobby track racer, Gary suffered a horrific motorcycle crash in 2010 that resulted in multiple life-threatening injuries. He was unconscious for six weeks and then faced a life of multiple surgeries and chronic pain. After two and a half years in a wheelchair, Gary gradually learnt to walk again.
Gary has since become a strong advocate of CBD, having used it personally alongside traditional medication during the long months of his rehabilitation. CBD oil makes a significant difference to his quality of life. Far from living as an invalid, as well as running a business Gary helped found the Day One trauma charity. He can even now play pool and ride a three-wheel motorbike, in spite of the injuries he still lives with.
Says Gary: “CBD oil has been transformational for me. I now lead a more fulfilled life – but more than that I’m full of hope, rather than just getting through the day. My goal now is to spread the word about our Holistic Herb range so that more people can benefit from its unparalleled effects”.
His experiences have powered the Holistic Herb team’s motivation to provide the best products possible for people turning to CBD to improve their daily life and wellbeing. As a team with deep expertise in the global CBD market, we have developed product technology that sets a new standard.
What Is CBD?
CBD is short for Cannabidiol and is the second most abundant constituent in Hemp. CBD is different to THC as it has no psychoactive effects, meaning it does not get you high. CBD is one of 113 known chemical substances known as cannabinoids, which are all found in the cannabis plant. CBD is the second most abundant compound in hemp, typically representing up to 40% of its extracts.
The Cannabis plant exudes cannabinoids and terpenes on to its leaves and flowers in response to sunlight and pests. It is understood that humans have cultivated and consumed hemp food products for thousands of years, carrying their cannabis seeds with them over great distances.
How Does CBD Work?
The human Endo-Cannabinoid System (ECS) was discovered in 1992 and subsequent research has revealed a network of cell receptors designed to interact with cannabinoid molecules.
Endo-Cannabinoids are internal cannabinoid molecules that our bodies are supposed to produce, to trigger ECS receptors. It is thought that certain environmental factors may inhibit our production of our internal cannabinoid molecules.
While the mechanisms are not well understood, CBD is thought to interact with a range of cell receptors, causing subsequent physiological responses.
What is Total Bioavailability?
Holistic Herb’s uniquely micro-emulsified Premium CBD has vastly superior Total Bioavailability™, which means it is more efficient, entering the bloodstream faster and remaining there in higher quantities for longer after application.
Regular CBD products are not as efficiently absorbed and are not protected, and as a result they can lose as much as 95% of the active CBD through destruction by the digestive system on their way to the bloodstream. As a result, only a small fraction of active CBD from regular products makes it to the bloodstream.
With over 98% of the active CBD in the Holistic Herb product being fully absorbed into the bloodstream, you can be confident that our Total Bioavailability™ is helping to bring you a more efficient product and value for money.
Holistic Herb Premium CBD is a minimum 15x more Bioavailable then “regular” CBD, which increases absorption into the bloodstream up to 24 hours after ingestion.
Available exclusively at Holland & Barrett stores and Holland & Barrett online.

We’ve answered your most commonly asked questions about CBD and Holistic Herb products.
Is CBD oil safe to use?
There are no records to date of any individual having an adverse reaction to CBD. Before taking Holistic Herb products consult your physician. This is especially important if you have a medical condition or are taking any medication, as interactions may occur.
Are CBD products legal?
Holistic Herb products are completely legal. CBD is legal in the UK if sold as a food supplement, produced from Cannabis Sativa L. (Hemp) and containing a maximum of 0.2% THC, the part of the plant that creates a ‘high’. While most genetic variations of hemp carry some amount of THC, Holistic Herb products are manufactured using refined extracts and as a result are in fact THC-free.
Will CBD show up on a drug test?
CBD is not tested for in any drugs tests. As of January 2018, the World Anti-Doping Agency removed CBD from the banned substances list.
What will I notice when I take CBD oil?
CBD can have either a calming or an uplifting effect, depending on how your body interacts with the substance. Start with a low dose initially to gauge your own personal reaction to CBD and build up the dosage if required.
How long does CBD take to get into your system?
This varies significantly depending on the mode of application. Inhalation will result in CBD entering the blood stream within a matter of minutes. Sublingual application may take a little longer. Ingestion can take anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 hours depending on when you have eaten, how hydrated you are and your metabolic rate.
Will CBD oil make me high?
CBD oil is a non-intoxicating cannabis extract. The high from the plant is caused by THC which in the case of Holistic Herb products has been entirely removed.
Are there any side effects of taking CBD oil?
There are no negative side effects of taking CBD oil. CBD is not a harmful substance and has been proven to have an extremely low-risk profile. However, we do recommend that you speak to your physician if you are taking CBD alongside any other regular medication for a long-term condition as interactions may occur. And of course, with any treatment – natural or otherwise – there are possible side effects. These include nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, bloating and dizziness.
How do I take CBD and which will suit me best?
CBD can be applied in multiple ways, depending on the purpose. Sublingual application results in absorption through the blood vessels under the tongue and around the mouth, which causes relatively high absorption. Ingestion – by swallowing – will generally have lower levels of absorption but slower onset and a longer-lasting effect. Holistic Herb CBD oil is fully water soluble.
What are cannabinoids?
Cannabinoids are a type of organic compound produced by the cannabis plant. There are 130 known cannabinoids found in the cannabis plant, of which two are found in high quantities, THC and CBD. When consumed, cannabinoids interact with receptors found in the walls of cells in certain organs in our body, apparently triggering chain reactions that alter chemical processes and neural signalling in humans.
Is CBD safe to use whilst pregnant?
There is currently not enough research to determine the safety of taking CBD whilst pregnant, breastfeeding or planning to become pregnant, so we do not recommend its use in such cases. We also do not recommend CBD for children.
Can I take CBD through airport security?
It is not recommended to fly or travel internationally carrying CBD products as they may potentially be illegal in your destination country or territory. It is always best to err on the side of caution as many countries have very stringent controls and penalties regarding Cannabis in any form.
Does CBD contain THC?
Most genetic variations of Cannabis Sativa L. carry some amount of both THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol) and CBD (Cannabidiol), and therefore in a full spectrum natural plant extract, THC will be present. However Holistic Herb products are manufactured using refined extracts, and as a result are THC free. This means you don’t need to worry about THC consumption with Holistic Herb.
How does CBD work?
It is actually scientifically unclear as to how CBD interacts with the body. It plays a role in increasing the body’s production of its own natural endocannabinoids and clears the cannabinoid receptor sites to enable increased uptake of these internally produced cannabinoids.
What is the difference between CBD & THC?
The one major and important difference between CBD and THC is that CBD (Cannabidiol) is entirely non-psychoactive, this means that there are no changes in an individual’s consciousness or perception of their environment having consumed CBD, as there is with THC consumption.
Is CBD beneficial to our health?
Although it is still scientifically unclear exactly how CBD interacts with our body, it has been found to promote a feeling of wellbeing in a variety of ways and can be different in different people. It is not psychoactive. It helps turn on endocannabinoid receptors in the brain and immune system, and these are key regulators of numerous mental and physical functions. Anecdotally CBD is beneficial for a wide range of ailments and conditions. We recommend that you research the anecdotal experiences of other people on the plethora of online groups relating to CBD.
